Hello you guys! I wanted to share with you today Joey’s 7 month old baby routine since I never got the chance to do a 7 month update. Joey is currently 7 and a half months so I want to just share our new routine because quite a few things have changed since he was 6 months old.
Joey is at that age that his sleep and eating habits are way more predictable (we just got past the 6 month sleep regression) and we have also now figured out good wake windows for him, which seem to have been consistent for a few weeks now! We have been using takingcarababies which is very helpful in terms of sleep, routines based on age and really helps you structure your day if you are looking for help (I highly recommend)
Up until this point, I would say we had a routine but day to day it changed so much because he was just growing and changing so fast. Now, I can honestly say that we are finally able to follow a routine because Joey’s naps are consistent and his nighttime sleep has gotten SO much better. This is what really sets up success because day to day it is very similar so we plan feeds and play time accordingly. If you are a mom who feels like there is no rhythm to your day, I promise you it gets better! Babies development is not linear and on top of that, it’s so fast. You see changes day to day and it isn’t until about 7 months that you start to see some consistency. Again, every baby is different but you are doing the best you can and you know your baby best!
Here is what a typical day with Joey looks like:
- 6am wakeup & play
- 7 feed 4 oz bottle
- he doesn’t like to eat right after he wakes up and he also does not take as big of a bottle because he is eating more solids which keep him fuller
- 8 breakfast
- This is the first time during the day that we offer solids, this is usually when his appetite finally kicks in and he needs to eat more than just a bottle before his first nap, otherwise he gets hungry and will not sleep
- Some of his favorites are: eggs, banana, blueberries, yogurt, pancakes
- 8:30 play
- 9 nap 1
- 10-10:30 wakeup & play
- 11:30 lunch
-
We again offer solids and try to change it up depending on what Joey ate for breakfast. We always give him a teether while he waits for us to make his meal because he likes to be chewing on something while sitting in his high chair. We also offer him vegetables and see what he likes!
-
Some of his favorites are: eggs, avocado, cauliflower, tomatoes, mango, papaya, macaroni noodles, happy baby pouches, homemade pesto
-
Joey also loves drinking water, I linked our favorite cup here. It’s great because it does not spill, he adjusted to it really well within about 2 weeks (great from bottle to sip cup) and not matter what angle he holds it at, water will still come out through the straw
-
- 12pm play
- 1-1:30 nap 2
- 3-3:30 wakeup & feed 4 oz bottle
- We feed Joey right after he wakes up from his nap and then this is the time of day that if it is nice out we will take him for a walk. He loves looking at the trees and watching the cars drive by!
- 5 dinner
- We offer Joey solids again but his absolute favorite to have is oatmeal. We also will give Joey a little bit of whatever we are having for dinner so he can try new things!
- 5:45 play
- 6:20 bath
-
After his bath we take him to his nursery where we put on his lotion, owlet sock, pjs and then get him in his sleep sack before his last feed
-
We sit with Joey in the rocking chair, feed him a 5oz bottle (he likes a little more before bed), give him a kiss goodnight and lay him in his crib!
-
- 7pm Joey is asleep for the night!
Play time activities
If you are looking for ideas for what to do with your baby while they are awake (I know I always am) here are a few things Joey likes to do while he plays:
- Skip hop bouncer
- Play with blocks (he really likes when you sit with him and build a tower so he can knock it down)
- Going on walks
- Baby Einstein (we turn it so it stands like a table so he can play it like a piano)
- Stackable rings
I hope you guys enjoyed reading and that if you are mama, maybe this helped you out a little bit! Like I said though, every baby is different but I do think it is good to have a routine. For Joey this really works and allows his days to be more predictable.
I will be doing posts about: Joey’s nap routine, starting solids and baby meal ideas, so stay tuned for those!
-With love, Kasia
