Montessori Inspired Toddler Toys

So recently, Joe (my husband) and I have really been trying to make a conscious effort to really focus on the kinds of actives/shows we show Joey. I have shared a little bit about this on my instagram, but basically I have gotten this question a couple times now that is “how is Joey doing with his walking?” GREAT!! He has been taking steps like crazy and I think right now he’s in that transition state where he’s learning to primarily walk versus scoot to get around. We were never really concerned because every baby has a different timeline and honestly I am a firm believer that not everything is “by the book.” I am not a doctor by any means, if there is truly something concerning with your child you should always consult your perdition about it, however for us we just always encouraged Joey to naturally discover his own abilities.

With that being said, we did do some reflection recently and I started doing more research into toys specifically which caused me to really be inspired by Montessori style learning. I have heard a little about this in the past but I really never knew exactly what it is, or how it differed from the typical/average learning style… you know what I mean haha I just want to say though, I don’t think there is one right way in how you should go about child play/choosing the toys you do for your baby. All toys are good and you should make those decisions based on what you believe is best. For us, after doing some more research and talking to one of Joe’s sisters who recently started working as a teacher in a Montessori, I have really been trying to make a conscious effort to promote Joey’s development. I think all parents would say they are just trying to make sure their child is fed, healthy, happy and thriving. This is just the way we are going about it and no shame in whatever you choose to do!

I will be doing a more detailed blog post about some of the things we have really been trying to promote and how we have sort of added in some new habits into our day to day routine, but for now I have just rounded up some of the new toys that I ordered for Joey. I also want to add, we have a whole assortment of toys already and I have always tried to buy him things that I thought would help teach him in some way if that makes sense. My buying him a bunch of new toys aright now is 1 – because he desperately needs a refresh haha and 2 – the toys I chose, I did so because I want to encourage him to explore and learn new concepts. Montessori learning really encourages independence and learning through hands-on exploration. These toys are fun, yet they really do keep him busy. It’s more than just he will push a button and a song will play kind of thing. He actually discovers a new concept and through that leans to apply it to not only that specific toy but else where. All these toys are either Target or Amazon. A few are from a brand called lovevery and I found that they sell individual pieces from their collection over at Target.

A good tip that I found really works, is you an always check Amazon for toys that are a very similar style but more affordable! Here is what I chose!

That’s all! I plan on starting a more developed play area for him in his room, so if you would be interested in me sharing that let me know. Thank you for reading!
