So guys, currently I’m sitting here (I just put Joey done for the night) and I am thinking of different ideas for what I want to write about on the blog. I enjoy just being able to write freely as if I’m having a conversation with you because to me the words then just flow and it’s more relatable you know? Anyways, as I am sitting here thinking, I asked myself “what is something that I lately need a pep talk in” and I knew the answer right away… motivation!
I am certainly lacking in the motivation department right now mostly because the days are long and I always feel like no matter what I do, more things that I have to get done just keep piling on. I know not everyone is the same way but I am a perfectionist. When I do something or start something I want it to be 100% the way I envisioned it or I am not satisfied. Even writing posts for you guys sometimes when I re-read them and I think they could’ve been more from the heart, I will go back and rewrite or add in more to make it more to my liking. This is something (not just with writing) but also everyday things like cleaning, organizing, other house chores, that just turn into time consuming tasks. I want them done to the absolute best of my abilities and nothing less. Well when you are a mom, you don’t have hours to spend on tasks… I learned this quickly!
However, now since I have sort of figured out this whole mom thing a little more, I want to start working on some of my goals that don’t include school or my family. What I mean by this is mainly my instagram and blog. I hope to be able to build a community of women who feel empowered and motivated to be the best versions of themselves. Well, as I am writing this I am thinking to myself “how I am going to do this if I myself do not feel my best and don’t know how to always find the motivation myself?”
If you are someone who wants to reach bigger goals but is losing themself because of everyday life craziness, let’s lift each other up in spirit together! Everyone is different and what you want to achieve and how you want to go about it is really up to you but I think the key to really staying motivated is to stop thinking about the vision you have for yourself and instead think about the present. You’re probably like what in the world?!? But really hear me out, everyone is always like okay write out your goals and then write out ways you will work to achieve those goals. Okay cool now, let’s say you put that plan into action and you’re not seeing much success (or big enough success). When this happens your natural response is to lose interest/motivation because you picture yourself in this dream state (whatever your goal may be: big career, house, family, etc…) and you’re not there. You don’t have that big career, that big house with the beautiful backyard, all the kids you picture yourself having, etc…
I personally feel like when we make goals we just picture yourself at that end outcome and nothing more. You don’t picture yourself in those million steps along the way that you will have to take in order to reach your goals, when in reality you should. It is just as much of a success when you reach step 5 as it is when you reach step million. You picture the big house but in reality you should instead picture the land, the weeds, the landscaping, the digging, the blueprint and so on.
This is what I have been trying to do to really stay motivated and I encourage all of you to try and do the same. Write your end goal. Now don’t think about it or picture yourself there for to long because you will soon want to give up because your not there haha
Instead, write down/think about what you are going to do right now to start working towards your goal and what you would like to achieve from that action. Do not let this take up too much of your time (we all know you don’t have a lot of it haha) don’t overthink, just quick plan and act on it.
Now, instead of picturing yourself at that end goal, picture yourself at your current plan. Really envision yourself doing it, think about how you feel and reflect on whether you achieved what you were striving for (again for that particular moment, not the end goal, were not there yet were on step 1 remember??)
Now, did it take a week? But did you still get there? WOW great, you did it! Now do it again. Keep doing it and eventually stop and reflect on your bigger goal. Go ahead picture yourself at that big house. Are the steps you’re taking helping you get there? Do you need to revise your action plan a little bit or is what you’re doing right now bringing slow and steady results? Okay awesome, now stop thinking about that huge house and instead get back to thinking about that weeding pulling. Just keep repeating this process!
Reaching a huge goal takes TIME & WORK! If you put in the effort, results no matter how small, are all working towards the end goal. You can not keep picturing the future without looking at the present. You just can’t. This is something I have been working on and something that helps keep me motivated. It’s so easy to get caught up in thoughts and feelings when in reality you should just be focusing on what you have (because you already have it haha) and work from there to build yourself up.
Goals take time, goals take work and to really always be putting your best foot forward, you have to be motivated. If you feel the passion and excitement from within it will really make those steps between one and a million so much easier to get to.
Let’s all lift eachother up and help each other find the motivation that we need!
-With love, Kasia
